The Prompt Framework

Every effective AI video prompt answers five questions:

  1. What is in the scene? (Subject)
  2. What is happening? (Action/Motion)
  3. How is the camera moving? (Camera)
  4. What does the light look like? (Lighting)
  5. What's the overall feel? (Style/Mood)

The Formula

[Subject] + [Action] + [Camera Movement] + [Lighting] + [Style/Quality]

Prompt Templates by Category

Product Commercial

A [product] on [surface/environment], [product motion],
[camera movement], [lighting style], [atmosphere],
product commercial quality, [duration]

Example:

A wireless earbud case opening in slow motion on a matte black surface, revealing glowing earbuds inside, smooth dolly-in with slight rotation, dramatic side lighting with cool blue accent, particles of light rising, 8K product commercial, 6 seconds

Cinematic Landscape

[Location/environment], [natural motion], [camera movement],
[time of day/lighting], [atmosphere], cinematic quality,
[aspect ratio hint]

Example:

Vast desert dunes at golden hour, sand particles drifting in warm wind, drone shot slowly ascending to reveal endless horizon, warm directional sunlight casting long shadows, heat haze visible, cinematic widescreen quality

Fashion / Lifestyle

[Person description] in [setting], [action/pose],
[fabric/hair motion], [camera style], [lighting],
[editorial style reference]

Example:

A model in a flowing red silk dress standing on a rooftop at dusk, dress fabric billowing dramatically in wind, slow-motion hair movement, camera circling at medium distance, golden hour backlight with city lights below, high fashion editorial cinematography

Abstract / Brand Visual

[Visual elements] in [space/environment], [motion type],
[color palette], [texture/material], [mood], seamless loop

Example:

Liquid chrome and molten gold colliding in zero gravity, forming impossible geometric shapes, light refracting through translucent surfaces creating prismatic rainbow caustics, dark void background, extreme macro detail, satisfying visual, seamless loop

Social Media / Vertical

[Eye-catching hook], [dynamic motion], vertical format 9:16,
[bold colors/contrast], [energy level], social media optimized

Example:

Colorful paint splashing in extreme slow motion against pure white background, forming the shape of a sneaker, vibrant neon colors, high contrast, vertical format, energetic and eye-catching, social media style

Camera Movement Vocabulary

Use these specific terms for predictable camera behavior:

TermEffect
Dolly-inCamera moves toward subject
Dolly-outCamera moves away from subject
Pan left/rightCamera rotates horizontally
Tilt up/downCamera rotates vertically
Tracking shotCamera follows subject movement
Crane shotCamera rises or descends
StaticCamera doesn't move
HandheldSlight natural shake
Orbit / arcCamera circles around subject
Zoom in/outFocal length changes

Lighting Keywords That Work

  • Rim lighting — Light from behind, creating edge glow
  • Volumetric light — Visible light beams through atmosphere
  • Golden hour — Warm, directional, low-angle sunlight
  • Neon — Colorful artificial light sources
  • Studio lighting — Clean, professional, controlled
  • Dramatic shadows — High contrast, moody
  • Soft diffused — Even, gentle, flattering
  • Backlit — Light source behind subject

Quality and Style Modifiers

Add these at the end of your prompt to influence output quality:

  • 8K quality / cinematic quality / professional quality
  • shallow depth of field / bokeh
  • slow motion / 120fps feel
  • film grain / anamorphic lens
  • color grading: [warm/cool/teal-orange]

Common Mistakes and Fixes

MistakeFix
"A beautiful sunset""Golden hour sun setting behind mountain silhouette, warm orange sky fading to purple, time-lapse clouds"
"Make it look cool""Neon blue rim lighting, dark background, slow motion, cinematic color grading"
"A person walking""A woman in a black coat walking through rain-soaked Tokyo streets at night, neon reflections on wet pavement, tracking shot from side"
"Fast action""Extreme slow motion capture of water balloon bursting, droplets suspended in air, high-speed camera feel"

Iteration Strategy

  1. First generation: Use your full prompt, evaluate the result
  2. Second generation: Adjust the weakest element (usually motion or camera)
  3. Third generation: Fine-tune lighting and atmosphere
  4. Lock it in: Once you find a working formula, save the prompt for reuse

Platform-Specific Tips for Gemini Omni Flash

  • Duration: Start with 5s for testing, extend to 8-12s for final output
  • Aspect ratio: Choose before writing your prompt — it affects composition
  • Audio: Enable native audio for content that needs ambient sound
  • Seed: Use a fixed seed when iterating to keep similar visual elements
  • Resolution: Use 720p for final output, 480p for quick tests
